with the Boys and enjoyed the afternoon

under a shade tree at the Park.

Even though it might sound cheesy to you,

Bahama Bucks always holds a special memory

for me and Ernie, because we used to

always start our dates when we were first dating

13 years ago by going to Bahama Bucks :)

One of the things I love most about

Summertime is being able to enjoy the drive-in!

The weather is perfect for kicking open the back of the

Yukon and relaxing in the warm air winding down to

a double feature!

This time we picked up Sonic drinks and

a large pizza to go and watched

Kung Fu Panda 2 and Thor.

I was proud of myself for refraining from their

delicious funnel cakes.

However, I regret it and next time I am going

to intentionally give in to my fattening Temptation!

The boys have been so excited that it is finally Summer!

It was so hot they got to enjoy a little bit of everything.

Aunt Judy and Hayley bought them this slip and slide

for their birthday and they have been dying to try it out ever since.

As for the mud bath,

Ernie and I walked outside to find this!

I told them it was too hot to play outside again

in the water after I had already given them their bath.

They thought this was okay since they were in the shade!

I cannot believe that I have a Son graduating High School.

No, I did not give birth to him, but he is still My Son.

It is hard to believe that the little boy I helped raise since

he was 4 yrs old is graduating high school. Watching him close one chapter

in his life and opening the doors to another has given

me very mixed emotions.

Yes, of course I am very proud of Him and all

that he has accomplished,

but on the other hand it is so hard seeing him grow up!

Yet I cannot wait to see what his future holds!

It is hard to believe Ben Graduated from Pre-K today.

He was absolutely adorable in his little cap and gown.

They asked each kid what they wanted to be when

they grew up.

Ben's answer went like this.....

When I grow up I want to be a Cowboy,

and my Mom has already got me the nice shirt,

boots and cowboy hat.

I am going to train all the horses

so they won't runaway.

And apparently I am not the only one who

thinks he is Adorable.

I literally had 4 different Mom's come up

to me at Graduation telling me that their Daughters

Love Him!

He is in Pre-K and already has little girls

fighting over him.

I think I am going to have my hands full!

This is Sydnee, Ernest's girlfriend.

She is an amazing person that is very goal oriented

playing softball.

I am so glad that Lubbock offers the Polar Express to the kids.

We went the first year it started in 2008,

but was not able to go in 2009.

I could not wait for it to come around again this year.

We had so much fun!

The boys were really into it this year and watched

the movie several times the days before.

They serve cookies and hot chocolate and sing and

tell stories just like in the movie.

When you get to the North Pole,

Santa and the Elves join in on the fun and visit every

single child on the train!

After Santa takes your Christmas requests he gives

a tiny bell to only those who believe!

I should have went back to school for my Bachelor's Degree

in Nursing a long time ago.

I finally decided to take the plunge this past Summer.

I didn't want to be in School long so I did it the insane way

and took 21 hrs in the Summer and finished my degree with

the remaining 14 hrs in the Fall.

This probably would have been easier if

I was single, no kids, or working full-time.

However God has blessed me with all those things.

The truth to that is that those "things" aka

my wonderful little Family is what gave me the drive

to get the job done.

Today was a very sad day at the Saldivar house.

Marley's mischief got the best of her today

and we had to burry our adorable Puppy!

It is hard losing a pet, but it is by far harder telling

your kids and explaining to them.

Ben said a special prayer over Marley's

gravesite under our oak tree and asked Jesus

to remember to play with her everyday!

I am actually post dating this post several months later, because

I was not ready to post it on the actual day it happened.

Marley was born Oct 1, 2009

and was laid to rest Nov 1, 2010.

Thankfully Mya is still with us!

FIRST SHOW AND TELL

Today Ben got to have his first

day of show and tell at school.

I was so upset that I couldn't go due to

receiving radiation therapy,

but between Nana helping Ben pick out what he wanted

to take and providing snacks,

and Daddy leaving work to be there and take

pictures for me then it was covered.

He picked out his 2 new air planes Nana bought him,

and of course his King and Chick Hicks Cars.

Well I guess if the Master can literally ask

us every week for almost a month

straight if Ben can test for his next belt

then maybe we should have faith and give in and let him try.

I didn't want Ben to feel pressured

seeing as how he is only 4 and advancing so fast,

but Ben was begging us at this point.

Se we gave in......

and....of course Ben passed his test and did incredible!

Watching him during sparring was awesome because

I could actually see his skills going up against

somebody else.

He also broke his board again and then

turned and gave me the biggest smile ever.

POST vs. SLATON

The Bold Gold scored their first win of the 2010

season against arch rival Slaton spoiling the Tiger's homecoming activities!

The 14-0 victory came with a new offensive approach

that kept Slaton on their heels all night.

Ernest played amazing!

He lead for 141 yards rushing on 26 carries.

One of those runs was the for the second score of the game

in the 4th quarter when he found an open center field

an ran 39 yards for a Touchdown!

His stats also include 4 passes for 94 yards and

1 touchdown completion pass!

Today the Antelopes took yet another

loss in the season. This time to Lamesa 33-7.

Ernest still managed to play his heart out

as always with 3 completed passes for 46 yards

Ben's First Day of Pre-K

BEN'S FIRST DAY OF PRE-K

The day has come that Ben has

been waiting for and Mommy has been dreading.

I had to remind Ben that I wasn't crying because

I didn't want him to go to school and learn new things

but because Mommy was sad that he is already such a big boy.

He hugged me and grabbed my hand, but

was not very sympathetic when he said,

"Mom you can hold my hand now, but not when

we get to my classroom." I tried to keep

my tears back as much as I could until I was out

of his classroom. He asked me where I was going

when I left. Before I could answer he asked if

I was going to be outside waiting for him.

I of course replied Mommy is going to sit outside all

day and wait for you and I am going to come have

lunch with you too. He smiled and then said,

"Okay you can go now then."

What a way with words Son,

Mommy is proud you are wanting to be so

independent but don't push it.

I walked outside and barely made it to the car

where Mom, Mandy and Brayden were

sitting and started bawling.

I sat outside his school all day with

the exception of sneaking in and watching him

on the playground. When I went in to have lunch with him

he told me that he was having a wonderful day.

I knew then it would be okay and I was

a little more relaxed (in the parking lot)

for the next couple hours.

When school was over he couldn't wait to tell

me about his wonderful day.

He has absolutely no problem going to bed now.

I am so proud of you Ben for being such a Big Boy,

just always remember, you are still my Baby!

The Night Before School

THE NIGHT BEFORE SCHOOL

I cannot believe that my little Benjamin

is starting Pre-K this year.

He is going to Calvary Baptist Church

Weekday Ministries.

Meet the teachers went amazing!

There are 12 kids in his class, 8 boys and 4 girls.

He already loves his Teachers Mrs. Meade and Mrs. Alyssa

and he has already won their hearts.

At meet the Teachers we got his first homework

assignment it was to decorate a plain yellow star

any way you want that tells about you.

When I asked Ben what he wanted to put on it,

he said "MY FAMILY" and "MY DOGS".

How precious is that, not pictures of him and his

toys, but he wanted his family and his dogs.

I pulled out a bunch of pictures and let him choose

which one's he wanted.

His favorites, except of the dogs were all taken

during T-ball season which he Loved!

That night he ate a big dinner,

insisted on taking a shower instead of a bath

because big boy's take showers and we

sat down to do his first assignment.

He was so excited about school the next day

that was all he talked about.

He glued all the pictures down and

with a little help from Mommy it was completed.

POST vs. SUNDOWN

Unfortunately, the opening game of the 2010

Post football season was like the past two seasons,

with a loss to the Sundown Roughnecks 39-13.

The game started out as a back-and-forth no score 1st quarter.

It wasn't until the 2nd quarter that points were scored.

We were the first to score when Ernest found Dalton

close to the end zone and threw for a 21 yard touchdown!

This was Ernest's First Passing Touchdown as a quarterback.

Last year he was the one running for them as a running back.

Ernest finished the game passing 58 yards completing

2 of the 3 attempts.

You still played good boys,

Keep your heads held high!

making tons of noise,

This particular day Ben wanted to do

everything for Brayden.

Including Story Time

and getting Brayden down for a nap!

EAST COAST VACATION

EAST COAST VACATION

Since starting back to school

this summer, Ernie and I have not had

much time together

between work, school, and the kids activities.

Our 6 year anniversary was July 17th,

so we decided to get away for a week just the 2 of us!

The boys in the mean time got to be

spoiled rotten by Nana, so they didn't

miss us one bit!

We left on my birthday July 26th and

came home Aug. 1st.

We took a trip in 2000 up the west

coast, so we decided to hit up the east coast.

We are trying to travel to all 50 states together

so we make the most of it when we can.

We added 8 more states to our list!

We started off in the great State of Texas of course.

We first drove to Hot Springs, Arkansas

where we were told was a beautiful place where you

can sit and relax in the hot springs. Yeahhhh not so much,

but that is okay, we added the state. lol

Our next stop was Memphis, Tennessee!

It was there that yours truly set off alarms

by grabbing Elvis's private parts on a statue.

It was pretty funny, once I realized I was

not getting arrested! Ernie said the look on

my face when the alarms went off was priceless!

From Memphis, Tennessee we decided to take a detour

down to Jackson, Mississippi and got to capture

some pretty pictures of the Mississippi River.

I told Ernie that I always wanted to go to Birmingham, Alabama

simply because I love the country song by Tracy Lawrence

"Paint me a Birmingham".

So guess what we did next we drove to Birmingham!

Ernie got tired of just seeing a bunch of tall

trees and I think I drove him crazy when I kept saying

wow look at that tree, it is pretty.

In all defense, the trees were beautiful!

Even though they lined both sides of the road

where you could see nothing else,

they were all still very pretty and

several different unique shapes.

My favorite were the ones that hung down

and looked like they belonged in a scary vampire

movie or something :)

After Birmingham, I mentioned that

I wonder if Georgia Peaches really do

taste different, so we thought heck

lets go to Atlanta, Georgia.

Of course we mad a "Pit" stop in Alabama

at the Talladega SuperSpeedway!

Once again trees all the way, but it was a beautiful drive!

Yummy, was all I got to say about the Georgia Peaches!

After clowning around there we decided it was time

for some Beach Action soooo.....

we drove to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina!

It was a very nice beach with some crazy nightlife.

I could not believe how expensive the hotel rooms

were that were next to the beach. $400-$600 a night,

I think not, we stayed down the road and walked to the

beach for less than half the cost!

Ernie and I both really wanted to spend

most of our time in Florida so we cut South Carolina

a day short than planned.

I am sure glad we did because

let me tell ya, Daytona Beach in Florida

was by far the best beach I have ever been on.

When we got there we decided to check out the

hotel prices on the beach again.

Surprisingly enough they were not that bad at all.

Yeah for us! We checked in of course late at night.

Ernie asked if I was ready to just call it a night

and lets go to bed.

I said, are you kidding it is not even midnight,

lets go to the beach.

Let me tell you some good choices there!

We had the whole beach to ourselves!

Heck yeah :)

Very romantic!

We finally called it a night around 3 am.

The next morning we were up and hit the

town of Daytona and the beach in the daytime.

We had so much fun here. We were glad we

chose to spend most of our time there.

After leaving Daytona Beach we decided we would

just drive as much as we could to see as much

more of Florida as possible.

I did not want to go anywhere close to Orlando,

because that is saved for a Family Trip to Walt Disney World.

We did drive to Pensacola where

the oil spill occurred.

It looked pretty cleaned up to me, the beaches were

the whitest I have ever seen.

However we did not swim here though.

It seemed like it would have been a nice place to

vacation at to with live music and entertainment going on.

At this point our days were getting shorter and we

knew we better had back.

I heard that New Orleans in Louisiana

was a blast on bourbon street.

Yeah, this momma was scared to get out

and it was so ghetto and nasty so

we drove through and left.

Next was the swamps in Louisiana.

It amazes me how dumb some people are.

Seriously there was a couple with little kids mind you

getting out of their car with swimsuits on

where there was obviously alligators.

Really, how stupid are you?

We got some pretty cool pictures of the swampy lands

but no swimming for sure. We are only stupid

enough to swim with the sharks and sting rays in Tahiti

on our freaking Honeymoon.

Yeah looking back that was a pretty dumb idea.

We drove to Dallas, Texas for our last night of vacation.

We had fun there eating dinner at TGI Friday's

having a couple drinks and taking in a movie.

it was funny, but kinda stupid.

We then headed home to our sweet boys

and of course rotten dogs the next morning.

T-BALL TROPHY

T-BALL TROPHY

Ben's first year of T-ball was officially over today.

He enjoyed it so much that he

is already asking to play again.

I probably won't choose LCAA

next year, it needs to be organized a little better.

I also think award

ceremonies should be done a little

better than just lining the kids up and

not calling out their names.

O-well look at my handsome little

man with his trophy.

You did awesome Ben,

Mommy is soooooo proud of you!

Taekwondo Jedi Man

Ben always amazes me with the

things he comes up with.

This one was definitely one of them.

He walked into the room with his

hat that says makes him look like a man like Daddy,

his star wars lightsaber and his

taekwondo kick target and told me

"Look Mom, I am a Taekwondo Jedi Man"

Of course, I had to get a picture of this one,

and of course he proudly smiled with his achievement!

Ben's First Year of T-ball "Rockies"

Ben started his first year of t-ball in June.

The teams name is the Rockies! It has been an

interesting season considering we have all the younger kids,

but he absolutely loves it!

He is by far the cutest little boy on the team of course ;)

First Camping Trip

FIRST CAMPING TRIP

Well our first camping trip didn't get

to go as planned of course.

Ernie and I planned to take the boys

camping for 2 days over the 4th

of July weekend and enjoy

the fireworks show at the Lake this year.

Go figure, it not only rained it flooded.

Did we still try to hold to our promise to the

kids and take them camping?

Absolutely!

With drenching Mommy and Daddy putting

the tent up and Daddy making sure we stayed

dry all night, we did it!

Not exactly what we had in mind,

but the kids still had fun!

Fishing was intermittently in between the rain showers,

the hot dog roast and S'mores were

made with our little grill under the canopy

instead of getting to sit around a camp fire.

O-well, we still made a lot of memories,

telling ghost stories and squeezing everything we

possibly could in.

One thing is for sure,

at least I finally got pictures of the boys with their

umbrellas and rain boots!

Just not the way I planned it!

CRITTERFEST

CRITTERFEST

This was the first year that the boys

went to Critterfest at the Science Spectrum.

We went with our good friends,

Amber Medrano and her girls

Brooklynn (aka my God daughter) and big sister Brenna.

I was kind of bummed because last

year when we drove by they had more animals.

This year they didn't have much.

Ben was upset there were no elephants,

but of course he quickly got over that

and they had a lot of fun!

This summer was extra special because

One thing that is definitely different

about the country is all the little critters

that come with it.

I remember being little and playing

with horny toads all the time, but then

they seemed kind of extinct.....

CRAFT DAY

Today for craft day the boys and

I took a nature walk in search for the perfect rocks.

After finding the rocks the boys

got to paint their prized possessions!

They had so much and of course

couldn't resist painting each other.

What a better way to wash all the paint off

then ending craft day playing

in their new buzz lightyear slip-n-slide.

They had so much fun.

I of course had to show them how it was done.

YEAH funny mental image is right,

I didn't slide like I remembered.

I had so much fun watching the boys

that I made one of the worst mistakes

of my life and forgot to reapply sunscreen.

What went from trying to be a fun Mom ended

up being a horrible Mom.

Learned my lesson and I promise

I will never forget to do that again!

Hopefully the boys will remember the good times

and not the horrible sunburns!
